Polyamide Insulation (P.i.) trade mark indicates exceptional thermal performance!

Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems are pleased to announce that the Comar 5P.i. window offers an exceptional thermal performance achieved with the Polyamide Insulation (P.i.) break.

Unlike an aluminium window with a pour-in resin break, the Comar 5P.i.’s outstanding thermal performance is achieved with a 20mm Polyamide Insulation rolled-in between two separately extruded profiles.

Comar 5P.i. thermal efficiency was demonstrated with the Dry Ice Exhibit at the P.i. launch at the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Two profiles – a Comar 5P.i. and a Comar 5 - were placed on dry ice. The ice temperature was measured with thermometer probes and showed -24°C. Another two probes were placed on the top of each of the profiles. The exhibit was left to calibrate and temperature probes showed 20.2°C on the resin and 28.5°C on the Comar 5P.i. The test results showed the level of cold conductivity was higher in Comar 5 resin and lower in Comar 5P.i.

The difference was a massive 8°C. This is a major factor, which means that by using Comar 5P.i. the following is achievable:

- In buildings which have Comar 5P.i. windows installed, because of the exceptional thermal performance of Comar 5P.i., heating does not need to be turned up as high in buildings. This means that by using Comar 5P.i., end users will be saving money and reducing carbon emissions.

- The building, when warm, will stay warmer for longer as the Comar 5P.i. window is a low conductor of heat and cold.

Comar 5P.i. is part of Comar’s extensive thermally broken window range. Comar 5P.i. is available in all window configurations which includes casement, tilt & turn, horizontal and vertical pivot, sliding and top swing reversible. Comar 5P.i. profiles are extruded separately, providing dual colour options. This means that the internal of the window can be one colour, whereas the exterior can be another. This provides Comar specifiers with a multitude of design options.
