Toshiba and Carrier equipment supplied to Royal Engineers for training uses by HRP Ltd

Toshiba Carrier UK’s well-recognised commitment to industry training has been further emphasised by the recent installation of Toshiba VRF and Split system air conditioning systems in the Air Conditioning Systems Training Area and offices at the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) at the Royal Engineers Barracks at Gillingham in the Medway towns, in Kent.

The equipment augments a wide variety of air conditioning types including Carrier Split systems that are studied within the laboratories. The Toshiba systems were supplied by the Swanley branch of HRP Ltd, wholesale distributors for Toshiba and Carrier ranges. They were installed by the Royal Engineers’ trainees themselves.

The training for the young engineers has to be intensive. They have to understand all the technologies. They are taught and practice, design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair and, as part of this training, they work on Toshiba VRF systems, Toshiba inverter splits and Carrier fixed speed split systems, during their six month comprehensive air conditioning course.

“Many people have commented that the training delivered here is probably the best that you will find in the South East,” said Clive Davison, head of department at RSME. “We endeavour to ensure that civilian qualifications are achieved wherever possible.” Paul Hobbs from HRP added that, “it is essential that Army engineers can deal with any type of equipment that they will meet in the field, including all types of refrigerant.”
