Frenger launches radiant heating panels that conform to latest
European standards
Frenger Systems are one of the very first LTHW
radiant heating panel manufacturers to test their range
of products to EN14037. This is the new homogenised
European standard for the capacity measurement of
ceiling-mounted LTHW radiant heating panels.
Before the introduction of EN14037 there was - believe
it or not - no dedicated testing protocol for the
testing of such products. In fact, in the UK we have
adapted "radiator" test standards (BS3528 and BS EN 442)
for the purpose of assessing radiant heating panel
capacity.
For various reasons (not least the inconsistencies in
heating data published in manufacturer's literature) the
"corruption" of the BS standard was seen to be wholly
inappropriate and the introduction of EN14037 has been
universally welcomed.
What makes EN14037 different, apart from the fact that
it is specifically designed for ceiling mounted LTHW
heating panels, is that it tests for “useful” heat from
the panel. That is, it allows for no dissipation of heat
into the ceiling void and takes into account radiant
temperatures as well as air temperatures. For these
reasons the new protocol provides the specifier with a
degree of security; it allows for informed comparison of
products from different manufacturers, and affords a
simple match between "heat loss" and heat capacity.
In line with the other products in Frenger’s LTHW range,
the Company’s latest generation lightweight heating
cassette “Modula” has been tested to the new standard
and has been specified for use on numerous LIFT
healthcare projects throughout the UK.
