Sill’s latest ‘cool glass’ heat-controlled 484 buried uplight
for 70W and 35W metal halide lamps reaches a glass temperature some
15°C lower than the recommended standard
New buried uplights are coolest yet
Sill Lighting has just introduced its latest ‘cool
glass’ heat-controlled 484 buried uplights.
This newly developed fitting designed for 70W and 35W
metal halide lamps, has undergone extensive testing in
Sill’s respected electrotechnical laboratories for
temperature rise according to the EN 60598 standard.
This development work has resulted in the fitting
achieving a maximum temperature on its top glass of
56.5°C in a 15°C ambient, some 15°C lower than the
recommended standard.
A number of special features have allowed the buried
uplight to achieve this result. They include a lowered
reflector, heat shielding to components for long and
reliable life, two IR filters, a lamp shutter and double
glazing for the top glass.
These high quality IP67 buried uplighters have diecast
aluminium bezels for the pressure tight sealed in safety
glass, finished with a stainless steel trim. The body is
made from corrosion resistant powder coated high quality
steel which is just 210mm deep making installation
on-site easier where there are often very shallow
groundworks.
As well as its cooler operating temperature, the top
glass lens is engineered to withstand compressive loads
of one tonne. Such luminaire engineering provides the
Sill 484 series buried uplights with the best possible
performance under demanding conditions.
