DLG Architects - Planning submitted for major new development in Andover

Award winning national practice DLG Architects has submitted a planning application for an important new mixed-use development in Andover, Hampshire on behalf of its client MPLC Ltd. In conjunction with Fenchurch Investments Ltd, MPLC is seeking to transform the 3,300 sq m Ford Cottage site at the corner of West Street and Chantry Street on the fringe of Andover town centre.
Last week DLG Architects presented plans to the local council that include a new 50 bed landmark hotel, over 120 residential apartments and a 850 sq m leisure/retail allocation that will include restaurants and cafes. The scheme has been called Theatre Plaza due to its close proximity to the town’s renovated theatre 'The Lights', and will provide restaurant and cafes facilities for it, with links towards the Chantry Centre via a new central public courtyard. This will provide a significant communal space that will be further enhanced by public works of art.

In accordance with government conservation policy, the proposals would help ensure the sustainable future of Ford Cottage by bringing it back into beneficial occupation and relocate it into a more historic setting adjoining St Mary’s church, in accordance with the planning consent granted in 2005.
Fenchurch Investments Ltd is advised by London Clancy commercial agents, and local firm Upton McGoughan are providing Consulting Engineer support.
