everywoman Supports government targets for non
traditional roles with NVQ training
everywoman is supporting the
Government’s pledge to support women in non-traditional roles
through a range of recognised qualifications for women aspiring
to leadership and management positions. In line with Government
targets, everywoman is specifically working with women in the
construction, engineering and transportation sectors.
Women in the construction industry account for just 9% of the
total workforce and alarmingly only one tenth of this figure
work in professional occupations. everywoman’s NVQ
management programmes will see assessors working with companies
and their female employees for up to six months, providing
tailored, ongoing practical support and assessment ensuring they
have the skills to competently undertake their roles.
An NVQ provides employees with a nationally recognised skills
set designed to improve competence and knowledge. NVQs have
proven that they can provide an opportunity for employees to
gain proficiency related qualifications, which in turn lead to
increased recognition and confidence in the workforce. This can
particularly benefit women through flexible training resulting
in a greater sense of self worth.
everywoman is able to offer NVQ level three to women
working in the construction, engineering and transportation
sectors at a subsidised cost of £585 thanks to funding from the
Learning Skills Council initiative ‘Train to Gain’.
Underlining its commitment to women in non-traditional roles,
everywoman has been invited to support and judge the Inspire
Awards. These awards will recognise and celebrate exceptional
women working in the built environment, using them as role
models for others working in the sector and those considering
construction as a career. They will also help demonstrate to
employers the advantages of a diverse, educated and reliable
workforce that is properly reflective of society. The awards
will take place on 6 July with architectural and engineering
practises, construction firms and other related organisations
invited to nominate entries at www.cnplus.co.uk/inspire up until
30 April.
As the UK’s leading network for women in business, everywoman
has first hand understanding of the needs of women in the
workplace. everywoman is therefore ideally positioned to deliver
relevant training programmes and offers a broad range of
flexible and tailored solutions.
