British Harlequin plc - An American in Paris

Since 25th September 2006, Paris and Europe have welcomed the first American dance school, The American Dance Academy of Paris (AADP). Harlequin’s involvement with this unique project was to equip the 5 studios with 450m2 of Harlequin Liberty flooring covered with Harlequin Studio vinyl in beige and Harlequin Fiesta vinyl.
It is with the financial support of the Annenberg Foundation that the private school in la rue du Cherche-Midi, right in the heart of Saint-Germain, was able to choose a first class location. Under the supervision of Brooke Desnoes, an ex-pupil of the Alabama Ballet under Dame Sonia Arova and Sir Anton Dolin and later, teacher at the Washington School of Ballet, the originality of the classes has attracted a large number of students of which 60% are French.
The AADP teaches ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap dancing to young children up to the age of 19. "Music and Movement" to small children from 2 to 3 years old, "Creative Movement" to older children and pre-professional lessons with flexible hours to adolescents up to the age of 19.
For the opening, Brooke Desnoes choreographed a neo-classical piece called "Come in" and her pupils danced a shortened version of The Nutcracker The dynamic and unconventional methods of the AADP have enabled it to benefit from the Florence Gould grant, which has allowed it to organise a series of lectures together with visits from world famous dancers such as Galiene Stock and Kathryn Wade from the Royal School of Ballet and Cédric Andrieux, soloist from the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Another big event will be held in May 2007 with a visit from Ana Marie Forsythe from Alvin Ailey.
Serious teaching and an international environment combined with discipline and a family atmosphere make the school in rue du Cherche-Midi in a class of its own. According to Brooke Desnoes, it is the vitality which best describes the philosophy of the AADP. The mission is none other than to kindle body and soul with a love of dance, in the same way as Gene Kelly once enchanted a generation with music and dancing. Harlequin is proud to be a part of it.
A final word from Brooke Desnoes, Principal of the AADP "When we moved to rue du Cherche-Midi, we contacted Chantal Lagniau about equipping our studios. She remembered us from 2000 when we were a little known dance school in Paris. Harlequin were very professional when we worked with them the first time around and they have once again proved that the quality of their service is unparalleled!"
