The Little Britain Challenge Cup - 6th-9th September 2007

The Little Britain Challenge Cup (LBCC) is the largest annual, construction industry yachting regatta in Europe, with over 240 yachts taking part and over 3000 people racing. The event is run by and for the construction industry and teams comprise Contractors, Property Developers, Agents, Architects, Clients, Engineers and Trade Contractors. Money raised from the event is shared amongst many charities including the Jubilee Sailing Trust, Cirdan Sailing Trust, the Skandia Team GBR Paralympic Sailing Team and the Ellen MacArthur Trust.

2007 is shaping up to be the most exciting year to date with the introduction of a new pricing structure, making things both clearer and easier for all companies taking part in the LBCC. Coloured wristbands will still be worn and many features of LBCC will remain the same, however, there will be much more included over the 3 day event than ever before.

The price of all meals have been substantially reduced including breakfast, supper and the Gala dinner, although quality will remain as high as it always has. You will be able to buy your breakfasts and meals separately and pay for only what you need instead of the compulsory après sail package.

Further details of the new pricing structure are available in the new entry form for LBCC 2007 and on the website. The LBCC 2007 brochure is being sent out within the next 10 days - make sure your name is on the mailing list to receive your copy.

Catering
Following much positive feedback of the catering last year, John Bodley will be return as caterer for LBCC 2007. Delights to tempt your palate range from Chicken with truffle oil to lamb infused with rosemary, lobster terrine to raspberry pavlova – something for everyone, including vegetarians, something equally as five star and delicious is promised.

Event village
This year there will be lots of activities (landside) for you to try. How about the challenge of Scalextric, have a go on the boat simulator and take part in the charities winch grinding competition - and when it all becomes too much, book yourself in for a sports massage.

The format for racing is the same as last year with a four race series with three to count and prize giving is to once again to be incorporated in to Saturday Gala Evening to congratulate main winners (15 minutes maximum). As always there will be a structured programme that runs throughout the event.

Feedback from one competitor last year was that the event was “First Class – and that it was the professionalism of the event that was a key attraction in the first place” Thomas Martin - ARCO (safety equipment providers). Another said that “as a first time competitor this is possibly one of the best organised sailing events that we take part in” Mark A Charsley, IT Business Partner - Highways Division, Mouchel Parkman Plc.
