Minerit Lightweight Board (LW) from Cembrit Blunn has been specified by Orion Trent for its fire resistance and compressive strength at Ludlow Eco Business Park - a groundbreaking, environmentally-friendly environment for commerce.

Located in Shropshire, this new development is aiming to set high standards of best practice in design and sustainable construction. To this end, all buildings on the site are constructed to BREEAM (Environmental Assessment Method) excellence standards, with the wooden structure of the buildings providing tasteful contrast to the surrounding countryside. The new office units vary in size from 100ft² to 6,000ft². Timber frame and acoustic specialist, Orion Trent, suggested the Minerit LW Building Board to be used within a floor of sandwich construction between birch-faced plywood and the floor surface, partly because of its high compressive strength.

“The Minerit LW board from Cembrit Blunn met the stringent fire assessment performance required, and was not only available at the right price for the budget, but also within the tight time schedule set by such a building project,” comments Nigel Gillingham, Branch Manager at Orion Trent. “We had to co-ordinate technical data, general correspondence and site deliveries, so the service and co-operation we had from Cembrit Blunn was gratefully received.”

Minerit LW Building Board is exclusively available in the UK from Cembrit Blunn and is a non-combustible internal lining board which combines fire-protection, lightweight construction and strength to facilitate ease of handling and on-site installation. The board offers profound resistance to wear and tear, non-combustibility, sound insulation and the ability to withstand high-temperatures. Specified at the Ludlow Eco Business Park in a 15mm thickness, the board helps with fire protection (60mins) and potential floor loadings.

Suitable for installation in schools, offices, public buildings, portable buildings and chemical processing plants, LW Board is produced from a mixture of cement, cellulose and mineral fillers and is strong, durable, long lasting with minimum associated maintenance costs.
