Asquith, the North's premier property developer, has today learned that its proposals for an impressive 38-storey glass tower, which will transform Bradford's skyline, have been given the green light by Bradford City Council.

Plans for the £150-million Citygate development, which will be built on Bradford's Manchester Road, include a 116-bedroom hotel, luxury apartments and townhouses, retail space, two private landscaped courtyards and car parking.

This will be the second prestigious development undertaken by Asquith in Bradford, with the first, The Gathaus, recently nominated for the Sterling prize for architecture.

The project had already gained backing from the Bradford Trident board, a community led organisation working with Bradford City Council on the regeneration of the city centre, as well as strong support from local residents and businesses during an in-depth public consultation held in June. However being granted final planning permission by Bradford Council guarantees Citygate's future as one of Bradford's new and exciting business and residential hubs.

Building work for Citygate will begin in 2008, with completion expected in 2013. Citygate is part of an overall Master Plan to regenerate the City of Bradford in order to strengthen its economy and make it a better place to live and work.
