A giant reach stacker positions
a container of British Gypsum dry lining products
onto a rail bogey ready for its journey to Scotland,
where it will be transferred back to road for the
last few miles of its journey to customers.
British Gypsum’s plant at Kirkby Thore in Cumbria is
now sending 24 of these rail containers every day to
a trunking depot in Scotland, saving 1.76 million
road miles annually, and reducing associated carbon
dioxide emissions by around 80%.
