Traditional family outfitters Chas H Baker has extended the coverage of air conditioning in its famous Salisbury department store to the specialist men’s wedding department. Carrier’s specialist residential and light commercial installer Domair International specified and installed two Carrier XPower Split system hi-wall indoor units with the outdoor units sited with previously installed systems on a nearby roof. “It is important to keep cool when fitting elaborate wedding outfits, and it is easy for this old building to warm-up in summer,” explains Domair’s Ian Willis.

The half-timbered high street building fits the image of a well-established traditional department store and Domair had to undertake the work with appropriate care and consideration. Its reputation for successful domestic installations, which require special sensitivity and awareness on the part of the contractors, enabled it to carry out the work to the client’s complete satisfaction.

The Carrier XPower system is a particularly quiet, reliable and efficient system utilising inverter-based control technology. It is increasingly attractive to those end-users who may not have wanted the supposed ‘noise and trouble’ of air conditioning before.
