Cummins A Series - The First To Tier 4

Darlington, UK (Jan 29, 2007) – Cummins announces that its A Series engines have been certified to EPA Tier 4 Interim emissions regulations, scheduled to take effect in January 2008. This is believed to be the first production engine certified to meet the Tier 4 requirements, and offers lower emissions than the current European Stage 3A limits applicable to this engine output. Significantly, Cummins Tier 4 technology solution for its A Series engines is built upon the identical industrial engine platform range launched for Tier 2 in 2002. This is a major achievement considering Tier 4 Interim represents a 50-percent reduction in emissions of particulates versus Tier 2.
Cummins A Series Tier 4 Interim engines range from 23-35kW (31-47hp), with a configuration that ensures equipment manufacturers have long-term platform stability in the face of regulation changes for more than 10 years. The engine’s platform commonality and simplicity extends beyond 35kW (47hp) with the Tier 3/Stage 3A A2300 which is available up to 42kW (56hp).
The 3 cylinder A1700 and 4 cylinder A2000 and A2300 engines are ideal for compact construction equipment. With a high power density and compact envelope, they provide an excellent solution for space-constrained installations from 23-42kW (31-56hp). These include skid steers, excavators, rollers, trenchers, small tractors, irrigation pumps, portable air compressors, aerial lifts, light towers, and commercial mowers.
