Cummins Tier 2 QSK60 Single Stage Engine Hits 2700HP

Darlington, UK (Jan 29, 2007) – Cummins announces that its Tier 2 QSK60 mining engine is now offering ratings as high as 2014kW (2700hp) in a single-stage turbocharger configuration. Previously, ratings above 1865kW (2500hp) were only available in a two-stage configuration.
The new 2014kW (2700hp) QSK60 engine is available for mining applications up to 3,000 metres. Its compact, lower weight installation is achieved with the equivalent levels of performance and durability as the higher rated two-stage engine. Other potential benefits are reduced maintenance and improved fuel economy.
The QSK60 engine, now rated from 1389-2014kW (1782-2700hp), provides up to 10,628Nm (7839lb-ft) of torque at 1500rpm and is ideal for the durability, reliability and power density requirements of high-hour and hard duty cycle applications such as front end loaders, mining excavators and haul trucks.
Based on the experience of over 1,400 QSK60 mining installations, the engine has been enhanced with the proven technology of the Cummins Modular Common Rail fuel system. This enables the increased power whilst maintaining the standard low pressure turbocharging and aftercooling systems.
