ISG InteriorExterior Secures second Imperial College London Scheme of 2007

ISG InteriorExterior has secured a £5.2 million project with Imperial College London at its South Kensington campus. The scheme sees ISG InteriorExterior undertake significant internal structural modifications at the Sherfield Building, which houses Humanities and Science & Technology departments, to increase teaching and research capacity for the popular academic disciplines.
The project involves infilling two large light wells within the building to provide additional accommodation, and the refurbishment and rationalisation of space across a number of floors. The Sherfield Building will remain in continuous occupation throughout the duration of the project, presenting a range of challenging conditions for ISG InteriorExterior to overcome. The programme of works has been carefully phased to minimise disruption to students and staff, who will decant into newly refurbished areas of the building as these are periodically completed.
A structural steel frame will be constructed within the two light well voids from the third to the fifth floor to provide open plan accommodation across these levels. Across the three floors, the contractor will strip out and refurbish facilities, creating offices and meeting rooms, installing new suspended ceilings, glazed partition walls and upgrading existing mechanical & electrical services. The project is due for completion at the start of the new academic year in September.
