Modern construction standards with the emphasis on energy conservation and improved insulation have resulted in more tightly sealed dwellings with reduced advantageous ventilation. This not only produces an uncomfortable living environment but also puts the fabric of the building at risk from condensation. To overcome these problems the dwelling needs to be ventilated so that stale, moisture laden air is replaced with fresh air. The most efficient method is to use a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery so that the amount of air replacement is carefully controlled and the fresh air is pre-warmed by the extracted air.
Johnson & Starley’s whole house mechanical ventilation with heat recovery will eradicate condensation and its damaging effects and provide a cleaner, fresher living environment within the dwelling. Stale, moist air is extracted from 'wet' rooms through grilles and passed across an aluminium plate heat exchanger to remove the heat. The residue is exhausted to atmosphere. Fresh, filtered supply air is then drawn across the heat exchanger, warmed by the retained heat and distributed through ceiling mounted grilles to 'dry' rooms. Air-streams are separated to avoid cross contamination and up to 70% of wasted heat energy is recovered.
BEAB approved and complying with Building Regulations - Approved document F, a number of different models are available. All incorporate the highly efficient and robust Johnson & Starley aluminium plate heat exchanger and come complete with the JS6 speed control. On the HR150 it is incorporated within the casing and is pre-wired. On the HR100 and HR200 it is supplied loose for remote siting. Electronic filtration is an optional extra and 95%of particles down to 1 micron will be removed including pollen, cigarette smoke and house dust.
The larger HR600 is designed for use in commercial applications such as pubs and clubs where there is a requirement for ventilation and improved air quality. Suitable for areas up to 2000m3, it comes complete with passive filter and control panel.
