Wickens Engineering have supplied a cantilever racking system to Coverworld in Chesterfield

Coverworld supplies industrial roofing and cladding to the construction industry and after a steady expansion it was felt that an increased amount of storage was required on site. Varying lengths of roof cladding had to be stored and protected from damage. Wickens looked at the options available to Coverworld and facilitated in implementing these designs.

Wickens cantilever racking is designed for the safe and organised storage of long and heavy loads and is an effective alternative to lighter weight storage solutions. Sales director Alan Cross proposed a series of bespoke cantilever racks enabling different lengths to be stored together. These were galvanised to make them suitable for outdoor storage.

It was important that the sheets of roof cladding being stored did not sustain damage from the arm bolts whilst on the racks. Wickens therefore suggested that flush finished arms were used instead of the standard bolted. The two bolt fixings are concealed below the top surface of the arm preventing damage to the items being stored.

To further protect the cladding and the racks themselves Wickens installed a galvanised guide rail system to prevent damage from forklift trucks. All of the design and manufacture was executed within the time frame agreed and carried out to the satisfaction of all at Coverworld. Peter Hunt was pleased with the fact that we met their exact requirements. The robust design delivered a reliable storage solution for the heavy application.
