ISG Jackson - Marks Project Milestone At Cambridge College Scheme

ISG Jackson has marked a major constructional milestone in its £3.2 million project to build new graduate student accommodation at Robinson College, with a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony on site. The College’s Warden Professor, A. David Yates, was on hand to formally acknowledge the completion of the highest point of the new building by laying the final roof tile.
Robinson College is one of the 31 Colleges of the University of Cambridge, and work on building the two new, three-storey buildings is progressing well. Designed to blend seamlessly into the existing built environment, the accommodation will house 48 individual study bedrooms with en-suite facilities, as well as a communal kitchen and dining facilities across each of the floors.
In addition to their tiled roofs, both buildings feature brick and render finishes to their façades. An environmentally friendly bike shed, with a green sedum roof, provides secure parking and a rainwater storage tank will provide irrigation for a new garden area. The project is right on schedule to complete by July 2008.
Phillip Allerton, director of ISG Jackson's Living division, commented: "Reaching the highest point of every development is a key moment in the build programme and provides a tangible indicator of the project’s progress. We attribute much of the success of our schemes to building close and collaborative relationships with our clients and continue to work effectively with Robinson College towards a successful handover.
