TDSi Goes on Tour
TDSi’s security tour management tool, eXtour, which fully integrates
with the company’s range of access control readers, is proving to be
a valuable addition to the company’s suite of products.
Traditional guard tour management systems have relied on specialist
equipment, such as wands, to capture data during the course of a
security tour; only at the end of the tour could the data be
downloaded to allow it to be analysed and reported.
Using TDSi’s proven eXguard PRO software, eXtour eliminates the need
for such equipment, allowing each guard tour pattern to be
separately configured and providing real time information and
control.
The configuration of eXtour defines each designated reader within
the overall access control system that is to be included in the tour
as well as the defined order in which the guard’s card must be
presented to the readers as well as the time frame, after the start
of the tour, in which the card must be presented to each reader.
If the guard presents their card to the readers in the correct order
and within the specified time, the system identifies that correct
procedures are being followed and reports accordingly. However, if
the card is presented too early, it suggests that the guard may have
missed elements of the tour and a flag is raised on the system. If
it is presented too late, or not at all, it may be an indication
that the guard requires assistance and, if specified, an alarm is
raised.
From the security managers perspective, eXtour offers a range of
features, including a comprehensive ‘overview’ control screen,
showing in real-time, the status of all active tours, with a Tour
Alarm pane, showing any alarms raised by early or late card
presentation.
In addition, the system incorporates a comprehensive reporting tool
which allows completed tours to be summarised and analysed. Reports
may be configured and printed to provide a detailed assessment of
staff productivity and provide a full audit trail if needed; the
system also includes a comprehensive, in-built help system.
