ARVAL LAUNCHES A BREATH-OF-FRESH-AIR FACADE
 A
stainless steel façade with lumps in all the right
places has been launched to UK specifiers by Arval from
Arcelor Construction.
The Oxygen panels, which are not only perforated but
punctuated with voluptuous mounds and craters (more
technically known as positive and negative spheres),
were originally developed with French architects SCAU
for a market in Grenoble.
When launched at the Batimat trade exhibition the
response was so good, it was decided to make them
available through architects and specifiers for external
elevations here.
As well as new-build, the bright stainless steel relief
offers a stunning contemporary solution for
refurbishment projects due to the stirrups the panels
are hung on which can slide in and out to cater for
uneven surfaces.
Only 1mm thick and weighing 9.10Kg/m2, the 817 x 1,343mm
cassettes feature notched lugs welded onto the reverse,
which are slotted, coat hanger like, onto vertical
aluminium rails attached to the supporting structure by
a galvanised steel U.
Pre-coated with a non-corrosive film, they are
self-cleaning (with the help of natural rainwater) but
if an extra gloss is required or vegetation such as moss
needs removing, can be treated with household detergent
(minus chlorine, abrasives ands solvent) and a fresh
water rinse.

offers a quick and easy, secret-fix solution for
specifiers looking to turn run-of-the-mill buildings
into something special. The addition of coloured
lighting behind the panels can also add another element
to the Oxygen experience.
