Honeywell partners with Salford CC for quality heating
 Salford City Council has appointed
Honeywell as sole controls partner for its Salford
Heating Installer Partnership (SHIP), a major initiative
to keep Salford’s most vulnerable residents warm in
their homes.
Honeywell will provide wired and wireless heating
programmers and thermostats, control valves, radiator
thermostats and automatic boiler bypass valves. Council
surveyors will choose the optimum high quality, best
value Honeywell products to provide high standards of
comfort and energy efficiency in each case.
To ensure high quality heating systems are supplied
quickly to vulnerable households, SHIP brings together
Honeywell specialists, other manufacturers and heating
installers with the Council’s Home Improvement Agency
and Affordable Warmth Team.
Honeywell will provide wired and wireless heating
programmers and thermostats, control valves,
thermostatic radiator valves and automatic boiler bypass
valves. Council surveyors will determine the optimum
controls to be used to provide high standards of comfort
and energy efficiency in each installation, choosing
from a shortlist of high quality, best value Honeywell
products. This choice will depend on whether the home
requires a completely new installation or an upgrade to
an existing system.
The Salford City Council initiative was launched by its
Madam Mayor, Councillor Val Burgoyne, and Councillor
Peter Connor, Lead Member for Housing.
“The SHIP scheme has received much support and
encouragement from installers and manufacturers,” said
Councillor Peter Connor, Salford City
 Council’s lead
member for housing. “We believe this type of scheme has
the potential to expand and also to be a model for other
authorities and Housing associations to follow.”
The launch event was attended by representatives from
equipment manufacturers including Honeywell, local
suppliers and heating system installers within the eaga
network which is responsible to delivering the
Government’s flagship fuel poverty scheme, Warm Front.
The Salford Home Improvement Agency and Affordable
Warmth Team is now also working closely with the
Council’s Landlord Accreditation team towards more
energy efficient and comfortable heating systems in
private rented properties.
