SAVE ENERGY, SAVE MONEY, SAYS JACKSON
 With power companies announcing
increases of almost 20% on utility bills and the average
family’s dual fuel bills rising to more than £1,000 a
year, most people are looking for ways to reduce their
living expenses, and investing in the right insulation
for your property could be a good way to save!
According to the Governments Energy Saving Trust, every
household could save around £250 a year on energy bills
by being more energy efficient.
With this in mind, Jackson Building Centres can provide
recommendations on simple energy saving home
improvements that could drastically reduce your energy
bills, improve the comfort of your home, and help fight
climate change.
Jackson Marketing Manager, Colin Bartleet commented:
“New figures show that more than five million people
have switched their energy supplier in the last year,
which proves that more and more people are looking for a
better deal and ways to reduce their energy bills.”
In a typical home, 20% of all heat is lost through poor
ventilation and drafts, by simply draught proofing, the
average household can save around £20 a year on heating
bills, whilst installing 270mm insulation in the loft
can knock a further 20% off fuel bills.
 “With a little bit of DIY, says Colin, it’s really easy
to keep money in your pocket instead of seeing it
disappear through draughty windows or out through an
un-insulated roof – and we can provide all the guidance
you need to get results.”
Other energy saving measures includes wall and floor
insulation, tanks and pipe insulation and double
glazing. Statistics show that double-glazing cuts heat
loss through windows by half and can save £80-£100 a
year on heating bills.
Colin said: “Some energy efficiency jobs are easy for
anyone with a knack for DIY to successfully complete.
Others need an experienced, qualified tradesperson. At
