O&H Properties - Marston Vale to fulfil eco vision
The Marston Vale in Bedfordshire has
today (3rd April) been shortlisted as a potential
Eco-town site by The Department for Communities and
Local Government.
David Reavell of O&H Properties, who produced the
initial proposal, comments:
"We have held a long term commitment to the development
of the Marston Vale. Our vision is for the creation of
an Eco-town that meets and exceeds the criteria laid
down by Government. We want to create a community that
delivers the highest possible standards of
environmental, social and economic sustainability. The
Eco-towns process provides an ideal platform and today's
announcement brings us one step closer to making our
vision a reality.
“We believe that the plans for Marston Vale epitomise
the future for sustainable development in this country.
Residents and visitors alike will be able to live, work
and play in a truly sustainable community. The
development as a whole and each house will be designed
to the highest environmental standards, reliance on the
car will diminish and, with a range of employment
opportunities and leisure facilities on offer, it
promises to be a truly self-sustaining community:”
O&H Properties will now begin a process of engagement
with all interested members of the community as it
progresses to the next stage in the Eco-town process.
Through this engagement, O&H Properties will ensure that
it takes the time to understand the specific concerns of
the local community and will seek to address these as
the process moves on to the next stage.
Concludes David: “An Eco-town will give fresh impetus to
the renaissance of Bedfordshire by providing much needed
jobs and homes as well improvements to the
infrastructure. More importantly, it will include large
tracts of land, despoiled by the traditional industries
of clay extraction and brick-making, and turn these into
part of a distinct and sustainable landscape for future
generations.
