Rockfon erupts into Ecobuild

Making it the most successful year to date

This year’s Ecobuild was one of the most successful to date, attracting over 24,000 people to the three-day event. Rockfon who were exhibiting with sister companies Rockwool and Rockpanel, were one of 500 exhibitors who drew a great amount of interest from architects, main contractors and specifiers eager to learn more about their environmental credentials and product characteristics.
Commenting on the success of this year’s event for Rockfon, Marketing Manager Franz Lorenschitz explains: “This year’s Ecobuild was fantastic. It was a great opportunity to show visitors a variety of products available from Rockfon. However, it was the natural properties of our tiles and recycling initiative that generated the most amount of interest, from which we have many leads to follow up.”
Rockfon products featured at this year’s exhibition included their flagship range of Sonar tiles, available in a variety of edges. The Sonar D edge was particularly popular with visitors as the concealed edge creates the impression of a monolithic ceiling whilst retaining all the advantages of a suspended ceiling. Rockfon’s Sonar tiles now have improved sound absorption with an alpha value of 1.0 as opposed to the previous 0.95.
Also featured at this year’s show were Rockfon’s Ligna tiles available in 3 wood effects, which bring the warm appearance of wood to the ceiling and Polar Colour, which is available in 10 standard colours.
Rockfon ceiling systems are made from 100% pure stone wool, which provides unique performance properties. Stone Wool is produced using volcanic diabase rock, a natural resource found in abundance around the world. The stone wool core is combined with specially applied surface finishes to create performance characteristics such as high sound absorption and longer lasting fire resistance. Diabase rock is created from natural processes including volcanic activity and plate tectonics, meaning more reserves are constantly being made - approximately 38,000 times more than Rockwool extracts. Its this unique process of natural renewal that delivers true sustainability.
Visitors to this year’s Ecobuild were also keen to learn about Rockfon’s recycling scheme. Under authorisation from the Environment Agency, Rockfon operates a customer initiative where off cuts of tiles can be returned from site and converted into briquettes. The total amount of recycled stone wool in Rockfon products amounts to 30%, further enhancing their sustainability and helping to make Rockfon one of the many attractions at this year’s Ecobuild.
