Tyco Thermal Controls - Chill Out
 Delta
T, a Tyco Thermal Controls Distributor Partner, has
recently supplied and installed Raychem electric heating
and freeze protection systems for structural steel and
cold water services at the new Chill Factore
real snow Alpine ski village in Manchester.
Chill Factore is an indoor, all-year-round
winter sports facility with real snow slopes for skiing,
boarding, tubing and playing. It also has an authentic
alpine resort atmosphere with popular features including
modern lifestyle shops, restaurants and cafe bars with a
continental flavour.
Within the ski box building, temperatures are kept
between -2ºC and -6ºC to preserve the integrity of the
snow runs. Specialist heating was required for the
structural steel, perimeter drain paths and for freeze
protection to cold water services. To fulfil this
requirement, Delta T supplied and installed a complete
system package employing over 2km of Raychem
energy-efficient, self-regulating heating cables,
together with controls and distribution boards.
This is Delta T’s fourth project with similar specialist
requirements in this sector. It has also installed
Raychem heat-tracing systems at indoor ski centres in
Milton Keynes, Castleford and Braehead.
