CEMBRIT ‘TO THE FORE’ AT LEADING GOLF COURSE

Chart Hills Golf Club in Kent, home to one of the UK’s leading courses, is the site of the first UK installation of Cemwood from Cembrit (formerly Cembrit Blunn). The club suffered a devastating fire that destroyed the old club house, and the fire-resistant Cemwood has been chosen as fascia board for the plant area at the rear of the newly refurbished building.

Cemwood is a low-maintenance, fire-resistant alternative to traditional timber weatherboard. It is perfect for exterior applications that require a product with the appearance of natural timber but none of the associated maintenance. Rod Park, General Manager at Chart Hills Golf Club explains, “When we had to re-build after the fire, we also took the opportunity of upgrading ancillary sites, including the plant area at the back of the Club House. The beauty of this board for us, is that we don’t have to re-paint it like timber. We already have an extensive maintenance programme keeping the course up to scratch that to find low-maintenance boarding that both looks good and performs well was a real bonus!”

Supplied by Raven Roofing to the site contractor BMP Construction, Cemwood is a fibre-cement alternative to traditional timber that will withstand the elements and retain its good looks for years to come. 70 Cemwoods, pre-finished in brown and in 3.66m lengths were supplied at the golf club. Easily installed, and colour-guaranteed for 10 years, Cemwood is suitable for all types of weatherboard application including; barn conversions, chalets, park homes, and pavilions. Cemwood can be specified in any RAL colour or wood stain (subject to a minimum order quantity), or can be left in its natural state to be painted on-site, which gives more choice to designers and users
Using skills built up over 80 years, Cembrit select natural slate from Spain, Canada, Brazil, China, India and the countries of Western Europe. From UK quarries Cembrit offer Welsh, Cornish and Westmorland slates. Quality levels at Group factories are rigorously maintained to high standards with fibre cement slates produced to BS EN 492:2004 and manufactured under the control of a BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 quality management system. Furthermore the company operates an environmental management system to ISO 14001:1996.
