Honeywell heating controllers ensure tenants have their heating
system serviced

unique features to help landlords comply with Gas Regulations
Landlords can ensure tenants take action to service their heating
systems with the versatile Honeywell ST9100S and ST9400S heating
controllers, which include a comprehensive Service Interval Function
with unique features.
The landlord or heating contractor can set when the heating system
requires servicing, plus an advance warning period during which the
display flashes a reminder of the service deadline. There are also
several options for how the controller will operate if the deadline
passes without a service taking place. The controllers also make it
easy for tenants to operate their heating systems to provide comfort
with energy efficiency.
The display can show a telephone number to help the tenant book a
service.
All these features help landlords comply with Regulation 36 of the
Gas Regulations 1998, which requires them to ensure gas appliances
are checked for safety at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
The display shows “Service due XX days”, alternated with the normal
display, for a period of up to 28 days as determined by the
landlord.
The timer is reset by the heating contractor when the system is
checked and serviced. The landlord can select how the controller
will operate should the tenant fail to have the system serviced:
No action – the Timer reverts to normal use but with “Service due”
flashing.
Switch off – the timer prevents the heating system from operating,
displays “OFF” and flashes “Service due”.
Prompt – similar to the previous option, but the timer allows the
tenant to bring the heating and hot water on for one hour only by
pressing an “Extra hour” button, after which the heating switches
off and “Service due” and “OFF” are displayed. The number of button
presses can optionally be limited up to 99 times, as set by the
landlord.
Controller options
The ST9100S is a one day timer with two on/off periods per day. It
can be used for combi boilers, additional zones or any application
where small electric loads need switching. The ST9400S is a one day
programmer timer with two on/off periods per day, for heating
systems with stored domestic hot water; it enables heating and hot
water to be programmed independently.
In common with all Honeywell ST9000 controls, the ST9100S and
ST9400S use the Honeywell Line of Text (LoT ™) display, featuring
simple text prompts on a large backlit display. They make its
operation very obvious to users, without them having to look at the
instruction booklet.
They fit on an industry standard back plate and are direct “plug in”
replacements for existing Honeywell ST6000 models and many other
programmers and timers. The clock time and date are preset. An
automatic time setting feature adjusts the clock for daylight
saving, each Spring and Autumn.
