KNAUF AQUAPANEL PROVIDES LASTING SOLUTION FOR TILE BACKING

Aquapanel from Knauf Drywall is the UK’s leading tile backer board,
and it’s built to last. Its growing popularity among tilers and
other contractors reflects the fact that tiles just don’t fall off
Aquapanel – even in frequently used showers. Aquapanel is a
reinforced cement board, specially developed to support tiling up to
50kg/m2 in wet areas such as showers, bathrooms, changing rooms and
swimming pool surrounds.
Aquapanel is in the spotlight again at this year’s Tile and Stone
Show, which opens at London’s ExCeL on 29 June. Knauf Drywall staff
will be on hand with information about the system.
Aquapanel is a strong 12.5mm reinforced cement board that interfaces
seamlessly with other Knauf Drywall systems. It has all the
advantages of drywall and requires no additional installation
skills. Even the worst leaks won’t damage it – and it has a 10 year
guarantee as well.
The strength and rigidity of Aquapanel make it the ideal substrate
for all types of tiling – and especially the heavier tile or stone
finishes specified for luxury accommodation, typically in executive
homes and ‘expensive’ hotels.
Emma Olsen, Aquapanel Product Manager at Knauf Drywall, says because
the bonds between tile, adhesive and backer board are not affected
by moisture, tiles stay firmly on Aquapanel – even if the board is
fully immersed in water. “This excellent performance virtually
eliminates failures and avoids the cost and inconvenience of
call-backs to fix tiles that have fallen off shower or bathroom
walls – which can be a problem on other types of board if moisture
permeates the grouting between tiles and damages the bond. So
Aquapanel really is the smart choice for specifiers, builders,
drylining contractors and bathroom installers, who are looking for a
lasting solution,” she says.
Aquapanel is available from builders merchants in two sizes: 900 x
2,400mm and 900 x 1,200mm. It is cut to size with a simple score and
snap process. It can be mounted on steel or timber studs, using
ceramic coated Aquapanel Screws, and is jointed with alkaline
resistant Aquapanel Joint Tape.
