CABLOFIL PERFORMS AT THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL
 The
strength, flexibility and ease of use provided by Cablofil steel
wire cable tray have helped deliver an outstanding performance at
London’s Royal Festival Hall.
The famous venue has undergone a complete refurbishment, which
includes a total electrical refit, designed by Max Fordham
Consulting Engineers and installed by electrical contractor, Essex
Electrical Group. Thanks to the building’s Grade 1 Listed status,
wiring and cabling has been installed in four vertical risers and
the building’s original 1950s high-level service voids. This
presented a significant challenge because of the restricted space
within both the risers and the voids and the acute bends and
direction changes that characterise the voids. The need to
accommodate these conditions was a major factor in Max Fordham’s
decision to specify Cablofil steel wire tray to replace the original
perforated steel and cable ladder installation.
Cablofil has been installed as the principle cable management system
throughout the building providing containment and protection for all
electrical services including circuits wired with special
fire-resistant FP600 and sensitive high speed, high band-width data
communications cables. The steel wire system has also been used for
containment of heavy-duty sub-mains power cables, including 4-core,
240mm armoured cables.
The contractor had initially been hesitant about using Cablofil as
other steel wire tray systems they had used in the past had not
performed well. However, a demonstration of Cablofil’s strength and
the training that Cablofil provided for Essex Electrical Group’s
team soon highlighted that it was an excellent choice for the Royal
Festival Hall.
