EMIZON SECURES A GRADE 4 SECURITY RATING WHEN TESTED TO LPCB STANDARD LPS 1277

Emizon 21 has received welcome support from the insurance industry following news that it has become the first IP-based alarm signalling service to be tested by BRE Global and has met the requirements of the Loss Prevention Control Board (LPCB) standard LPS 1277 at Security Grade 4 of EN 50136.

The announcement means that subject to final approval, Emizon 21 will be published in the LPCB’s famous ‘Red Book’ of approved products and services, a book that is seen as a major influencer to both the construction and the insurance industries for future build projects.

“BRE Global is recognised within industry as one of Europe’s leading independent testing establishments,” says Bob Tuck, Emizon’s managing director. “To be tested and passed is a major milestone in Emizon 21’s development, and sets us clearly apart from our competitors.”

Martin Aris, Technical Director for BRE Global explains: “Products approved by LPCB undergo a rigorous testing regime much of which is performed in conjunction with the real world conditions of the ‘live’ networks rather than purely simulated in a laboratory. For this reason, our test results tend to have more credibility and greater resonance with potential users and specifiers, including senior influencers within the insurance industry.”

Bob Tuck is especially pleased that Emizon 21 met ‘availability requirements’: “One of the biggest issues currently is the reliability and resilience of IP signalling services working with broadband, but Emizon was extensively tested over many weeks in a typical working environment on the live platform and not found wanting. This, perhaps more than anything else, is what has interested the insurance industry and resulted in such positive feedback.”

Loss Prevention Standard 1277 specifies the requirements for Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) approval of automatic alarm transmission systems and equipment intended to be used with intruder alarm systems and/or fire alarm and fire detection systems.

LPS1277 enables equipment performance to be assessed against all the existing relevant intruder alarm, hold-up alarm and fire alarm system standards – in particular BS EN50131-1, BS EN 50136-1-1 & BS EN 50136-2-1 and BS EN 54-2 & BS EN 54-4. LPS 1277 also tests equipment resilience to various environmental conditions (cold, damp heat, impact and vibration) as well as its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

“Emizon is already working collaboratively across the security industry with alarm panel manufacturers, alarm receiving centres (ARCs) and installers, to ensure that the industry harnesses the potential of monitoring over current and future network technologies, whilst protecting the security needs of customers for the long term.” Mr Tuck concludes.

“This latest endorsement will help underpin the work that has already been done in the UK, and accelerate the speed with which the service can be delivered on a wider stage.”
