ARCA members lead the way in new training
 The first of three new courses were today (6th June) launched by the
Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) to complement its
existing range of courses. The first IOSH – Managing Safety in
Construction Course was delivered for Erith Contractors Ltd, based
in Erith, Essex for 20 managers in the company. Managers attended
over a four week period, one day a week to successfully complete the
course.
In addition to the IOSH – Managing Safety in Construction, ARCA will
be delivering Construction, Design and Management (CDM) 2007
regulations seminars, Confined spaces courses and Contract
Management courses. HSE and ARCA members are keen to improve the
health and safety employees through training.
Tony Darsey, Managing Director, Erith said: “I myself attended the
IOSH course along with our site managers, contract managers and
additional team members. We felt it was an important step to enable
us to become a more rounded organisation in terms of health and
safety. HSE expectations on all of us are increasing and this course
gave us that additional knowledge to show we are a progressive
organisation.”
ARCA is widening the range of courses it offers to members to ensure
that courses are available when members need them. Industry changes
such as new regulations, practices and technological advances are
incorporated into much of the existing courses. However, the new
courses introduced provide a new range of skills that applies to
members from company directors through to operatives.
“With the right training, staff will feel more confident, satisfied,
self-reliant and actively communicate more effectively. Introducing
and implementing training programmes will have a ripple effect
throughout a company, thus improving morale, retention, efficiency
and productivity”, said Satish Patel, ARCA Training Manager,
“Training is at the heart of ARCA; all courses are suitable for all
members and we actively encourage them to take up the new courses.”
