BRETT RECOGNISED FOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Brett Landscaping and Building Products has achieved an
internationally recognised quality management standard.
The Poole site in Dorset, which produces around 100,000 tonnes of
landscaping products every year, is the first of Brett’s four
production centres to gain ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for Quality
Management Systems.
The standard covers everything from product specification,
purchasing, customer feedback and plant and operator capability to
product traceability, management commitment, reviewing of existing
systems and striving for continuous improvement.
Brett Landscaping and Building Products’ quality manager, Pam Firth,
said: “We’re very proud of this achievement. By having systems and
processes in place that meet with an international standard, Brett
is demonstrating its commitment to meeting customers’ quality
requirements and improving customer satisfaction.”
Pam added: “The systems used at Poole are also being adopted at our
plants in Cliffe in Kent, Barrow in Leicestershire and Pocklington
in Yorkshire. This drive for quality excellence provides further
improvements to our quality systems and helps raise the standards in
our industry.”
The ISO 9001:2000 standard forms part of QHEST, an Integrated
Management System which incorporates a number of internationally
recognised standards. Brett’s Poole plant, which employs more than
30 staff, already holds ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation for
Environmental Management Systems and Occupational Health and Safety
Management Systems respectively.
Said Pam: “Achieving QHEST certification assures our customers that
they are dealing with a quality organisation which can demonstrate
that it cares about the product, people and the environment.”
