Seddon Group - Reaching New Heights In Charity Effort
 Following
the Seddon Group fundraising tradition, personal assistant Lindsay
Baggaley, who has worked for the company for over 10 years, has
reached new heights to raise cash for the homeless.
After an arduous six-day trek, Lindsay reached Point Lenana on Mount
Kenya, scaling a height of 4985 metres, to raise funds for Homeless
International.
Following the trek, Lindsay was able to see first-hand the charity
work she is helping to support, with a tour of the slums in Nairobi
where Homeless International is building homes for residents in the
African city.
The 28 year-old raised around £2,800 for the charity, with Seddon
pledging a further £7,700 in support of Lindsay’s massive
fundraising effort, bringing the total raised to approximately
£10,500.
Lindsay’s dance training helped keep her stamina up for the trek, as
she explains: “It was a challenge to say the least.
“It was upsetting to see the conditions in Nairobi, but the people
are very grateful to Homeless International for the support that
they provide in constructing homes for them.
“I knew that altitude sickness could affect my chances of tackling
the summit, but fortunately I was able to cope with the extreme
conditions.”
Rod Sellers, the Seddon Group chairman, said: “Lindsay is very
committed and hardworking and we were all delighted to hear she’d
completed the trek.
To raise over £10,000 from the event is an incredible achievement
and reflects the great amount of effort she put in to complete the
climb.”
Lindsay is one of a number of Seddon staff to fundraise last year
and brought the total donated to charities to over £13,500
throughout the Group.
