Electro Mechanical Systems Ltd - Brushless DC ervomotor

EMS the miniature drive specialists have expanded their comprehensive range of precision drives with the addition of the innovative Smartshell; a new brushless motor series from Minimotor SA. The Smartshell is a conventional brushless DC-servomotor based around the system Faulhaber self-supporting skew wound coil, but with a unique advanced construction. The coil, PCB, laminated stack and front-end cover are all encapsulated together in an injection moulded LCP (LLiquid Crystal Polymer),, giving outstanding mechani-cal and thermal features, and in combination with the Neodymium rare earth magnets, superior dynamic performance. The monolithic design ensures a simple, compact and very robust stator is guaranteed. The an-odised aluminium front and rear motor covers provide the optimum location for pre-lloaded ball bearings, a secure mounting fixture in the application and ensureexcellent heat issipation.
The modular construction gives this motor real ver-satility. The entry-llevel motor is sensorless, resulting in a cost effective solution ideal for demanding drive applications where precise speed control is required. If more sophisticated motion control is required thenthe motors can be equippedwith a hall sensor modulewith ither digital or nalogue sensors.
The series is available from Ø 15-222mm with a power range up to 31W. The low rotor inertia and impressiveacceleration delivers speeds up to 62,000rpm, a truly dynamic performance with xceptional ong life.Complimentary drive electronics and the comprehen-sive range of Minimotor gearheads, enables optimi-zation of the drive to meet the most demanding ap-plications.
