THE TILE & STONE SHOW - PRACTICAL AND ARTISTIC INGREDIENTS JOIN THE ‘MIX’

The Tile & Stone Show 2008 has revealed an exciting line-up of practical competitions and artistic features for this year’s leading industry event. They include the launch of an exclusive new Artisan Pavilion, which will showcase leading UK designers, including Froyle Tiles, Gary Clements, Smoke & Fire, Sinta Studios and The Douglas Watson Studio. Meanwhile, following its huge popularity at last year’s show, the TTA Live Tiling Competition will return, incorporating a new ‘free design’ element, whilst the BCT Tile Design Competition will support and celebrate industry newcomers.
With many designers choosing the handcrafted tile and mosaics route, the Artisan Pavilion will offer a unique opportunity for niche exhibitors to showcase bespoke designs. Subsidized by show organiser, Kick-Start Publishing, the purpose-built Pavilion will provide each exhibitor with 5m of stand space and a private hospitality area, giving the artists a rare opportunity to show their designs and to meet each other.
Meanwhile, the show’s popular Live Tiling Competition will return for 2008 with a new free design element. Six industry finalists will have the opportunity to create their own designs in purpose-built booths in the show’s central arena, before being judged for creative and technical expertise on the final day.
Other highlights include the BCT Tile Design Competition. Young designers from throughout the UK, studying product, 3D, art and fashion design, will have the opportunity to take part in the competition. Finalists’ tile ranges will be manufactured and displayed at the show, where a host of prizes will be awarded to the winners.
