Deadline extended for Clay Roofing Awards

builders, architects, specialist contractors and self-builders
considering entering this years Clay Roofing Awards have a little
extra time to get their submissions in following the announcement
that the entry deadline has been extended to the end of March.
The competition, which recognises the best use of clay roof tiles in
projects around the UK, covers domestic new-build and refurbishment;
ecclesiastical buildings, commercial new-build and refurbishments
schemes and self-build.
Judges, including English Heritage senior architect Joy Russell,
will be looking for visually stunning, technically accomplished and
innovative projects that really fly the flag for the UK clay roof
tile industry, promoting the materials versatility, durability and
sheer good looks.
Any project completed between January 1, 2006, and March 1, 2008, is
eligible for entry.Entry is simple and carried out completely

A competition spokesman said:Projects can be large or small from
garages to supermarkets, dovecotes to cathedrals, and everything in
between. We are searching for clay tiled roofs that have been
beautifully executed and really enhance the environment within which
they sit.
The Clay Roof Tile Council, which organises the event, has also
announced that former cricket star Jonathan Agnew will be the guest
speaker at the awards luncheon, taking place at Lords Cricket
Ground, London, on September 17.Fast bowler Agnew, who made three
Test appearances for England, is now better known as Aggers in his
role as a BBC cricket correspondent.
