Knauf Drywall - New Brio Dry Screen Board Simply Floors Them
 New Brio Dry Floor Screed from Knauf Drywall is
the ideal base for a perfect floor in new or refurbished residential
and office buildings. A state-of-the-art gypsum fibre board with a
precision tiered edge, Knauf Brio is light and narrow – and it
provides a strong, durable and flat surface. Its excellent thermal
transparency makes this latest addition to the Knauf Drywall Product
Portfolio the perfect screed for use over underfloor heating and
cooling systems.
For easy transport and installation, Knauf Brio boards are 600 x
1,200mm – weighing 22–30kg, depending on their type. There are four
Knauf Brio boards: Brio 18 (standard 18mm thick), Brio 23
(reinforced 23mm – recommended for underfloor heating applications),
Brio 18WF and Brio 23WF (composite boards with an additional 10mm
laminated wood fibre layer providing high mechanical load resistance
and effective footfall sound insulation).
Installing Knauf Brio boards is incredibly simple and fast – no
special skills are required for a perfect job. The precise tiered
edges are glued with Knauf Brio Joint Adhesive and then screwed
together to ensure a solid bond. Because it is so quick to lay,
Knauf Brio saves valuable installation time – and the new floor can
take traffic as soon as the glue has hardened, typically a matter of
hours.
Knauf Brio is thermally transparent, making it incredibly efficient
for use with underfloor heating systems. Temperature changes are
achieved almost immediately – so there’s no premium to pay for
heating up a mass of concrete before the environment starts to feel
warm. Knauf Brio has impressive thermal transmission coefficients:
standard units – 0.05-0.08 m2K/W.
The low installation thickness makes Knauf Brio ideal for
refurbishments – and the total height of 23mm means you can install
a highly efficient underfloor heating system for a total loss in
room height of just 50mm. Knauf Brio is also much lighter than
traditional wet screeds, significantly reducing loads and costly
structural requirements in multi-storey buildings.
Knauf Drywall Marketing Manager Bob Stark says the Brio Dry Floor
Screed System has many real advantages over traditional wet screeds
and timber decks. “The main benefits are better stability, the speed
and ease of installation, and higher quality. In addition, Knauf
Brio can take high loads, yet it retains its elasticity – bowing is
simply not an issue. It is non-combustible and is classified as
Building Material Class A1.”
Brio Dry Floor Screed is available from distributors and builders
merchants, and comes with a range of accessories including Knauf
Brio Joint Adhesive, Knauf Brio Screws (17 and 22mm), Knauf Edge
Strip, and Knauf Levellers for correcting uneven substrates.
Knauf Drywall manufactures a full range of plasters, plasterboards,
insulating laminates, drywall accessories, metal sections and steel
