Comar Architectural - Specified for Mixed-Use Devon Project
Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems worked closely
with Alan Spear Ltd., Comar approved fabricator, on this
new-build housing project in Plymouth. The mixed use
project comprises office units on the gr ound level and
shared ownership housing throughout the rest of the
three-storey building.
The design brief demanded glazing solutions that would
suit the rigours and aesthetic needs for both
residential and commercial occupiers. Comar aluminium
system were specified for this reason: a range of
integrated aluminium profiles in a variety of widths to
provide longevity, strength and slim sight-lines.
Comar 6 ladder-frame curtain walling was specified for
the office glazed screens and full height stairwells.
The entrances comprise Comar 6 with integrated Comar 7
butt hung doors. For natural ventilation in curtain
walling, Comar 5lt 45mm ultra-slim windows were glazed
into Comar 6.
The apartments were glazed with Comar 5P.i windows and
Comar 7P.i doors. Both systems are part of Comar’s
polyamide insulated suite which features exceptional
thermal efficiency. Also, due to P.i system dual colour
option, Comar 5P.i and Comar 7P.i offer a realm of
design capabilities.
With the project specification requiring security
standards for the building, the system, again, met the
brief. Comar 5P.i windows have passed BS 7950 and the
Comar 7P.i residential doors have passed PAS 24, both
products were fitted with high performance multi-point
locking. All aluminium systems were polyester powder
coated to black RAL.
This project was part of the partnership between Alan
Spear Ltd., and Cowlin Construction, with whom the
fabricators have worked extensively.
The successful project completion strengthens the
partnering relationships between Alan Spear and Cowlin
Construction, with several more in the pipe-line.
