SMC Davis Duncan Architects - Bring New Life To Former Hospital

With nearly a quarter of a century’s experience in architectural services, Glasgow’s SMC Davis Duncan Architects has helped restore one of the city’s most prized properties, Schaw House in Bearsden.
Working in partnership with Premier Burrell - a joint venture between The Premier Property Group and The Burrell Company, the award-winning architects have successfully transformed the B-Listed Tudor Gothic building and former hospital, Schaw House in Bearsden, into 23 stylish and unique luxury apartments.
The period property set within stunning grounds in a leafy conservation area has now sold out, with many homebuyers attracted to its unique layout with many striking original features and detail retained.
SMC Davis Duncan Architects are well recognised in the industry as being a dynamic and innovative practice with a wealth of experience in all sectors of the market including conversions and refurbishments, new builds and commercial development for office, leisure, retail, educational and medical uses.

The Burrell Company has previously worked with SMC Davis Duncan Architects on a number of developments including Carrick Quay, an ambitious housing development on the River Clyde and Lyndoch Street, the residential regeneration of the category B-Listed former Park School for Girls in Glasgow.

SMC Davis Duncan Architects’ holistic approach to design has meant they have been involved in some of the country’s most high-profile developments. These include the remodel and alteration to the A-Listed Camphill Church Queenspark and Hutchesons’ School IT and Music department, plus new developments for the headquarters and offices for the Scottish Association for Marine Sciences in Oban; the new sports facility for Craigholme School; the Easterhouse health centre and the Matrix housing development in Glasgow, to name but a few.

Davis Duncan Architects have won numerous awards for their projects including an RIBA award for architecture GIA design awards and commendations, various Scottish Design Awards as well as a commendation at the National Housebuilder Awards in 2005 for The Matrix. They also won a Civic Trust commendation and Rose Design Award in 2002 for the refurbishment of the Wishaw and District Housing Association and an RIBA/GAI commendation in 2005 for Bearsden Baptist church.
