Roofing and cladding company Steadmans has launched a BBA approved slate-effect metal roofing sheet system called Meta-Slate to provide specifiers and end users with a roofing sheet that combines the appearance of natural slate with the advantages of a today’s lightweight, pre-engineered materials.

Fast and simple to install, the Meta-Slate system includes a complementary range of flashings, dry verges and mid-slope ventilators which when combined deliver a total external roof envelope with an extremely attractive traditional profile.

To further enhance its flexibility the Meta-Slate system can be fitted directly to Steadmans AS35 insulated panels to create Meta-SlatePlus, delivering an enhanced system specifically developed for a wide range of applications within the building industry. It is particularly suitable for public sector, leisure, custodial and domestic housing projects.

Ideal for both new build and refurb applications, Meta-Slate and Meta-SlatePlus are easy to fit due to its light weight and a simple secret fix joint system. Weighing only 6 kg/m2, Meta-Slate requires less substructure when compared to a traditional slate roof and supports can be up to one metre apart. Meta-Slate is manufactured from 0.7mm galvanized steel with a slate blue matt polyester external coating.

The sheet is embossed with a regular slate pattern and finished to appear like natural slate in colour. Alternative external colours and finishes are available to special order subject to quantity and availability.

Meta-Slate is ideal for use in environmentally sensitive locations where box profile sheeting may not be acceptable to local authority planning departments. Available in sheets up to six metres long, the system is supplied with a full range of accessories including dry ridge, dry verge flashings, hip and valley flashings, sealants and fixings. The use of jointplates allows for economic use of the material thus providing a very cost effective system.
