Easy access and robustness are the key things that tradesmen look for when selecting storage according to recent research by leading tool manufacturer, Stanley.*

David Osborne from Stanley explains: “Our research also revealed that because tool boxes and storage in general are replaced relatively infrequently, unlike other day to day trade tools, they are seen as real investment pieces for tradesmen. This is why it is vital that our storage is designed to be tough enough to stand up to the job.

“With this in mind we’ve used customer insight, backed up with rigorous testing, to develop our new and improved storage selection – the Metal-Plastic Tool Boxes and Rolling Workshops across both our Stanley and Stanley FatMax ranges.”

Tough Tool Boxes

FatMax Grey Metal-Plastic Tool Box

The FatMax Grey Metal-Plastic Tool Box is made from painted steel making it tough, strong and rust-proof - essential tool box traits. Key features of the toolbox include one long metal hinge large secure metal latches for durability and a tough, but comfortable bi-material handle, for comfort and ease of use. Inside there is a portable tray for small parts plus the unique provision of a handy vertical storage section too. The vertical storage section is perfect for storing the most frequently used hand tools. Its unique design means tools can be picked out and tided away easily – ideal when both space and time is limited.

Stanley Galvanised Tool Box

Stanley’s Galvanised Tool Box is basically a more compact version of the above. Like its FatMax ‘big-brother’ it has a tough exterior with a long metal hinge and heavy duty large metal latches. It also features a 'V-groove' on the lid perfect for onsite jobs, such as sawing, where space is restricted.

Conveniently each of these tool box designs come in three sizes perfect for the varying needs of today’s tradesmen.

Flexibility of the Rolling Workshops

The first of the three new mobile storage units is the FatMax Rolling Workshop which from the top down features the FatMax Grey Metal-Plastic Tool Box which is detachable so can be removed when on location and then easily re-attached once a job is complete or at the end of the day. Working down, there are two portable trays for storing small parts and hand tools and at the base there’s a giant bin to store more bulky materials and equipment.

Although packed with layers of storage its innovative design still allows it to be transported and handled comfortably by the user. The telescopic handle and heavy-duty wheels also means it can be manoeuvred easily when it’s packed away too.

An easy-slide mechanism means that each of the four compartments can be opened individually and with the ball bearing slides using motion for minimum effort even when fully loaded. The integral 'V-groove' on the tool box lid enables the user to use it as extra work space.

As you would expect from Stanley’s FatMax range this is the more robust version in the trio, with the capacity to hold the heaviest load.

The other two rolling workshops benefit from all the features of the FatMax Rolling Workshop with the exception of the load capacity and the style of the top tool box. The Stanley versions are instead fitted with a Stanley Tool Box (rather than the FatMax version) available as either galvanised or in traditional Stanley yellow colour.

The tool boxes and workshops in both the Stanley and Stanley FatMax ranges are available at selected independent retailers as well as stores including B&Q and Focus. The rolling workshops are priced from £133.88 RRP whilst the tool boxes as separate products are priced at £30.98 RRP.
