Flowcrete Specialist Flooring has transformed a busy hatchery with a state-of-the-art floor system. Under the refurbishment project, a new floor has been installed at Grampian Country Chickens.

More than 800,000 eggs are received each week at the plant, where they are hatched and then the chicks are moved out to farms across the country to be reared.

Around 1,000m2 of Flowcrete’s Flowshield were installed across the site in different colours, including grey, red, green and blue, to designate the different hygiene levels cross the plant.

Flowshield is a completely seamless, chemical resistant, self-smoothing resin floor finish. It is impervious to water and delivers a hygienic finish, which is able to cope with the most demanding of environments.

The product gives the effect of a vinyl floor but will not bubble or leak water through, as it lies monolithic with the concrete substrate. Flowshield is also easy to clean and maintain, provides colourful, motivating environments and can be installed under a fast-track programme to minimise disruptions to day-to-day operations on site.

It can also be subjected to medium to heavy duty traffic including pallet trucks and rubber wheeled fork lift trucks.
