Mumford & Wood’s Conservation™ Safe & Secure eco range of high performance timber casement windows and doors set a new benchmark in fenestration design. Achieving a BFRC A energy rating the range has been designed for projects that require modern, technical performance with traditional aesthetics.

Available to order, Safe & Secure windows have been independently tested to meet BS 7950, the Secure by Design certification for enhanced security. Windows are factory fitted with a high quality specialist hinge and espagnollette locking system, while doorsets are fitted with butt hinges and a multipoint locking system. The traditional appearance of the design conceals the robust hardware that will withstand repetitive and extreme impact tests.

These flush fitting casements are available in a variety of designs, providing total flexibility, and offer many desirable and technical features. Independently tested by BSI in accordance with BS 6375, Safe & Secure windows meet severe weather tests to BS EN12211:2000 Class 5, excelling in water tightness and wind resistance, and air permeability Class 4. Entrance doors in the range meet PAS 23/24 certification which qualifies for SBD recognition.

“Our A rated eco-specification range offers advantages over our existing C and B rated Conservation™ casements which already satisfy the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 – the goal we must reach by 2010,” says Dave Snowling, “so our A rated eco-spec alternative will surpass an already high performing product.”

The Safe & Secure product will stack up maximum CSH credit points and contribute towards the control of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the cumulative point score to CSH Level 6. A fourth category is that of Health & Wellbeing in which improvement to the quality of life in homes through good natural daylight reduces the need for energy to light a home with artificial light. The new Safe & Secure casements are factory fitted with very clear, low iron glass which achieves good solar gain required for higher energy rated windows and in doing so accounts for essential CSH points. Double glazed units use argon filled, laminated silence glass which achieves a 40db Acoustic Rating and is a positive attribute under the CSH Health and Wellbeing category.

These BSI Kitemarked, fully factory finished products are manufactured from truly sustainable laminated and engineered premium quality Larch which is naturally durable and achieves a consistent and knot-free surface. Delivered to site with three coats of water-based microporous paint or stain ensures longer maintenance cycles.
