A decorative quartz floor finish from Flowcrete’s commercial
flooring range is taking centre stage at the new Barnsley Academy
development located on arm Road.
The new academy, which specialises in business and enterprise, has
been built to provide students from the communities of Kendray and
Worsbrough with state-of-the-art learning facilities including an
ICT Resource Centre, Performance Hall, Music Suite, Dance Studio as
well as a fully integrated Sports and Leisure Centre.
2,000 sq metres of Flowcrete’s Peran STB – a seamless epoxy floor
screed containing colour stable quartz granules sealed in a clear
resin binder – has been used in a striking blue shade to floor the
school ’s Resistant Materials Suite, Art Rooms, CT Centre and Food
Technology Workshops.
Offering high durability and scratch resistance as well as a
hygienic and seamless floor finish that is easy to both clean and
maintain, Peran STB is the ideal flooring system for use in wet and
dry environments subject to heavy impact, footfall and chemical
spillage.
In conjunction with the UK Building Schools for the Future
programme, Peran STB meets the relevant Section 2 ‘Floor Finishes in
Schools’ requirements for type A (general), B (light practical), C
(heavy practical) and D (wet area) flooring as specified in the
Standard Specifications, Layouts and Dimensions Guidance Notes
(2007).
