Over
4,000 sq metres of Flowcrete’s specialist sub-floor products have
been used in a new purpose-built secure unit located in the grounds
of Abergele Hospital, North Wales.
The new unit, which has been funded by the Welsh Assembly, offers
help and support to children and young people experiencing complex
mental health problems such as eating disorders, mood disorders
and self-harm.
Flowcrete’s semi-dry cementitious sub-floor screed, Isocrete
K-Screed, has been installed in conjunction with the company’s
proprietary underfloor heating system, Isowarm, under a
single-source responsibility Floorzone package.
Isowarm, which offers clients potential energy savings of up to 30%
when compared to traditional heating systems such as radiator
heaters and air conditioning units, was specified for the project
onaccount of its ability to provide sustainable heat during the
colder months and comfort cooling during the summer.
Hidden from sight underneath the surface of the floor, Isowarm comes
complete with insulation, pipework, control mechanism and is backed
by a lifetime guarantee - giving the hospital ’s patients and staff
peace of mind as well as thermal comfort.
Isocrete K-Screed, which was used as the associated retaining screed
system, was chosen for its ability to cure up to four times faster
than traditional sand and cement based screeds as well as to deliver
a level surface uited to host of floor finishes including tile,
vinyl, carpet, wood and seamless resin.
