A North East business is offering an environmentally friendly
alternative to expensive home extensions.
Decorated Shed, based in Newcastle, offers a range of eco-friendly
garden buildings, which creates extra space without having the same
impact on the environment as traditional extensions.
The structures can be designed to any specification to provide
anything from a home office space or craft studio to a teenage den.
The flexible and timber framed structures take three to four days to
install, cutting down on not only the labour costs but the toll on
the environment too.
The business was set up in 2010 by North East entrepreneur, Scott
Horner who has a passion for building design. He has previously
worked as a creative director on projects for some of the world’s
biggest brands, including Aston Martin and NPower.
Although the company has only being going for a short period of time
it has already been commissioned by a wide range of homeowners
across the UK, including areas of Cardiff, Derbyshire and London.
“Since we started the company in 2010 we have already designed and
installed structures across the country. The concept of an easy
extension that is environmentally friendly is proving to be not only
convenient but also popular.” said Mr Horner.
Decorated Shed design buildings that are not only green throughout
their lifetime, but that are constructed using high quality,
sustainable materials. The company work with The Forest Stewardship
Council (FSC) and The Programme For The Endorsement Of Forest
Certification (PEFC) to ensure that all their materials are from
ethical and sustainable sources.
“At Decorated Shed we try to consider the carbon offset of our
products as much as possible, all our garden buildings are highly
insulated and energy efficient and are designed to remain this way
as well as to sequestrate carbon throughout their estimated 50 year
lifetime,” said Mr Horner.
Prices for the garden buildings start from approximately £14,995.
