Siemens Industry Building Technologies (I BT) has appointed a new
Head of Fire Products to lead its recently launched Fire Products
business unit.
Derrick Hall, who was previously employed as National Sales Manager
for Siemens’ Fire Safety division for seven years, brings more than
15 years experience to the role.
Derrick will be building on the success in this area by developing
Fire Products as an independent business unit.
Commenting on his new role and the Fire Products unit within Siemens
I BT, Derrick said: “I’m looking forward to my new position and
driving the Fire Products unit forward. The new unit will be
instrumental in the future of Siemens I BT and enables us to explore
new markets for our innovative Cerberus PRO range of fire detection
and alarms, bringing the latest technology to a wider market via our
network of approved solutions partners.”
Having worked in the industry for more than 15 years, Derrick has
seen it change and evolve. He believes that the future of fire
products lies in the use of IT networks to develop innovative
solutions.
“There is a need to address the challenges faced by new legislation
and to put greater emphasis on the performance of detection systems
in terms of the speed of response to fires, but also reducing false
alarms.
“The industry will have more responsibility for environmental impact
both in detecting fire early enough and in not responding to false
alarms. The use of remote servicing and diagnostics will also reduce
the environmental impact of service visits and travel to site .
Cerberus Pro is an innovative range of products which addresses both
legislative changes and environmental concerns, so we’re confident
of continued success,” explained Derrick.
As Head of Fire Products for Siemens I BT, Derrick will report to
Barry Glew, managing director at Siemens I BT, who added: “With the
creation of the new unit, and Derrick’s appointment, Siemens aims to
bring added value to our existing, and future customer base, while
strengthening our overall market position in the fire products and
safety industry.
“Siemens is now able to launch an exclusive range of products to our
partners, and Derrick’s experience will ensure the unit goes from
strength to strength. We are delighted to welcome him to the role
