Ideal Standard International, a leading provider of innovative and
design-driven bathroom solutions, today announced the nomination of
Dr. Kerris Bright as Chief Marketing Officer and a member of its
global leadership team.
In her role, Bright will lead Ideal Standard International’s
Strategic Marketing organization focused on branding and strategy,
innovation, insights and research, segment marketing, marketing
services and planning as well as capability development.
As a key member of the global leadership team, Bright will also
actively contribute to the overall management of the group, working
closely with the commercial and product divisions to increase market
share and profitability. As a leading innovator in bathroom
solutions for the interiors and professional industry sectors, the
company is moving into an ambitious new period of expansion and
growth across EMEA.
Bright will drive the building of the company’s international brands
Ideal Standard and Jado as the company drives forward its strategy
to become the preferred bathroom solutions provider for consumers
and trade partners.
Bright joins Ideal Standard International from British Airways where
she was Head of Global Marketing. Prior to that she was Chief
Marketing Officer for AkzoNobel’s global Decorative Paints business
where she led the integration of the Marketing function following
their acquisition of ICI Paints in 2008 where she had been CMO since
2006.
During her time as CMO for AkzoNobel and ICI Paints, Kerris
transformed the marketing function from a multi-local to global
brand building organisation. Her contribution was recognised by the
Marketing Society through Awards for Excellence in International
Brand Development, Brand Communications and Marketing Capability
Building for which AkzoNobel was awarded the Grand Prix in 2008.
Kerris joined ICI Paints in 2001 as UK Marketing Director
responsible for the Dulux brand and began her marketing career in
1991 with Unilever where she held a number of senior marketing and
general management roles in Quest International and Unipath Limited.
Announcing Bright’s appointment, Chairman of the group, David Hamill
said, “There is enormous capacity in our industry for leadership and
innovation, which is why we need someone of Kerris’s exceptional
capability, experience and vision. In her role as CMO, Kerris be a
key member of the company’s leadership team giving her a broader,
collective responsibility in shaping the company and delivering
value.”
Hamill and Bright previously worked together at ICI where, as CMO,
she reported to him in his capacity as Chairman and CEO of ICI
Paints.
Having joined Ideal Standard International as Chairman last year,
Hamill is leading the implementation of a major new infrastructure
and investment programme which focuses on the group’s leadership,
people, design and innovation functions as well as its enhanced
delivery capacity.
Bright said, “There is clearly an opportunity for Ideal Standard
International to become a market leading performer in what is a
highly competitive and tough market sector. The company has
ambitious growth plans in which the marketing function will play a
critical and central role.
“I have enjoyed my time at British Airways and I will miss my
colleagues and team. However, the chance to join Ideal Standard
International’s high calibre leadership team and take a close and
active role in the day to day development of a company with the
potential to be a global brand leader offers me a fantastic
opportunity, one simply too good to miss.”
Kerris is a Fellow and Board member of the Marketing Society and has
a degree in Biology and a PhD in Molecular Neuroscience.
