Dow Building Solutions – manufacturer of STYROFOAM-A insulation – is sponsoring the “Simplifying Standards, Guides and Tools” seminar stream at Ecobuild 2011, taking place at London’s ExCel centre.

The seminar stream, which takes place over the three days of Ecobuild (March 1st – March 3rd), will include discussions on aligning Passivhaus construction principles with building codes and regulations. It will also review changes that will be required in building standards in order to meet zero carbon homes targets, amongst other highly topical subjects.

STYROFOAM-A materials are being used to insulate what is set to be the UK’s first rural affordable housing scheme to gain Passivhaus certification in Wimbish, Essex and were used extensively on the first certified Passivhaus in England, Underhill House in the Cotswolds (pictured).

STYROFOAM-A comes in a range of thicknesses and is lightweight yet robust with high strength and excellent moisture resistant properties. It can be used for roofs (ROOFMATE-A), basements (PERIMATE DI-A) and below concrete floor slabs to help prevent thermal bridging (FLOORMATE-A).
