Efficient, scalable, integrated IT cooling solutions on Airedale
Stand E30:
ECHO IT High Efficiency Cooling System 20kW per rack
• PUE 1.2 (data centre example application)
• Up to 95% free-cooling
• 67% energy saving *
*In comparison to a conventional downflow system
The ECHO system ensures that the right air temperature, in the
correct quantity and at the optimum pressure is presented to the
server inlet, allowing it to breathe more efficiently.
By varying air volume, the ECHO system operates with air volumes 50%
less than traditional cooling systems and with elevated water
temperatures that allow up to 95%* free-cooling (London, UK). The
energy reduction of the ECHO system is approximately 67% in
comparison to a conventional downflow system and approximately 46%
in comparison with a conventional free-cooling system.
At the systems hub is an ACE (Active Cabinet Exhaust) unit which
sits on top of the server cabinet, drawing precisely the right
amount of hot discharge air from the servers and rejecting it away
into the ceiling void. The air is ducted directly to an Airedale
ECHO CRAC unit which in turn is linked to one or more Airedale ECHO
free-cooling chillers. Control is led from rack level by the
Airedale ECHO Monitoring & Control System (EMCS), intelligently
managing variable rack load densities to a maximum of 20kW per rack.
There is no chilled water or refrigerant connections at the rack or
in the IT space. The ACE is fitted with the exclusive Cabinet
Differential Pressure Control system; hot swappable fan tray and
control panel; redundant fans (N+1) and quick change controls and
fan drawers. Dual power supply is an option in the CRAC unit; dual
circuit configuration in the free-cooling chiller and dual
temperature sensors in the air stream of the ACE unit.
InRak in-row cooling solution 60kW
• 70% more fan efficiency, hot swappable fans, optional dual cool
• Up to 98% free-cooling when linked to DeltaChill FreeCool chiller
InRak is designed to fit in between industry standard server racks
and features latest EC fan technology providing up to 70% more
efficiency at part load than with an AC fan. Optional inverter
driven compressors allow fully modulated 25–100% cooling, enabling
exact capacity match for significant power savings.
As a further option, the dual cool DX/CW or mono cool CW versions of
the InRak can be integrated with the new DeltaChill FreeCool chiller,
which offers up to 98% free-cooling.
InRak delivers complete confidence, benefiting from a raft of
redundancy features such as dual cool options, n + 1 fan
configuration, aisle differential pressure control, hot swappable
fans and dual power supply.
OnRak 33kW
• 200mm depth ensures minimal impact into the aisle
• Up to 88% annual saving in power
• EER up to 166
An expandable, efficient, resilient rear door heat exchanger
designed to manage discharge temperatures from the server into the
aisle space. OnRak cools hot air within the server rack before it
reaches the room. When combined with EC fan technology, an OnRak
offering 33kW of cooling uses only 0.161kW of power.
Optional n + 1 fan configuration enhanced by smart control logic and
EC fan technology gives the OnRak built-in redundancy and excellent
part load efficiencies, increasing the OnRak’s Energy Efficiency
Ratio (EER) from 108 to 166 during part load operation, achieving up
to 88% saving in power input over a year compared with a typical
precision air conditioning unit with the same capacity.
Integrating the OnRak with the 20/40kW LogiCool FreeCool chiller
typically saves more than 50% of the energy consumed by a
conventional chiller.**
Variable speed fans provide precise cooling between 3–33kW, OnRak
offers an expandable cooling system that can be supplied with an
industry standard data rack (42-47U) or a mating frame to fit a
customer-specific rack.
Resilient and future-proof, the OnRak unit offers 33kW (n) cooling
or optional 28kW (n+1) fan configuration in which each of the four
fans operates at 75%. If one fan fails, the other three fans speed
up to 100% to maintain cooling performance.

SmartCool 60-150kW
• 7 system types
• 13% more cooling kW/m²
• Free-cooling models reduce energy by 46%
With seven system types for flexibility and an array of resilient
features to ensure 100% uptime, SmartCool significantly reduces
energy consumption and maximises uptime.
Dual cool options offer 2N redundancy and a glycol free-cooling
variant that uses 46% less power than the equivalent air-cooled DX
system. At a nominal £0.11/kWHour this equates to an approximate
saving of £8000/year or 31,000kg of CO2.
Seven system types are available in DX R410A and/or chilled water
and in single/dual configurations. With its ‘blow through’ design;
efficient ‘A’ frame coil and up to six stages of DX cooling, the
SmartCool delivers 13% more cooling kW/m² and a 30% increase in
system efficiency compared with Airedale’s previous generation
precision cooling products.
